As the Qingming Festival approaches, to express gratitude to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and the teachings of past masters, Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou organized lay disciples to visit the tomb of Master Yunqi Lianchi on the morning of April 1 to pay tribute to the ancestors, honoring their virtues and inheriting the great aspirations of the masters.

Under the guidance of Buddhist Masters from Lingyin Temple, Zhongtianzhu Fa Jing Temple, and Hangzhou Buddhist Academy, the lay disciples sincerely chanted Mahayana scriptures, offered incense, and performed worship rituals to express their deep gratitude to the great masters, dedicating the merits of these acts to the flourishing of the Dharma, the lasting presence of the Buddhist teachings, world peace, and the well-being of all people.

Every Qingming Festival, the Buddhist community in Hangzhou traditionally organizes Buddhist masters and lay disciples to visit the ancestral tombs for memorial services, honoring the profound merits of past masters who dedicated their lives to spreading the Dharma and carrying on the Buddha’s legacy. This event encourages future generations of Buddhist practitioners to remember their predecessors, diligently cultivate their path, and improve their understanding of the threefold training – discipline, meditation and wisdom, thereby benefiting all sentient beings. It also nurtures lay disciples to develop the aspiration for enlightenment, follow the Bodhisattva path, and embody the spirit of self-benefit and altruism.
