Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou Holds Flag-Raising Ceremony to Mark the 77th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China

On the early morning of October 1, 2026, Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou held a flag-raising ceremony to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

At around 6 a.m., the first rays of dawn fell upon the stately ancient temple. Venerable Master Guangquan, Abbot of Lingyin Temple, led the monastic community. Dressed in neat attire, they lined up and stood reverently before the flagpole. All the monks were in high spirits and stood upright, with everything in good order.

To the powerful and stirring strains of the national anthem, the bright five-star red flag rose slowly. Venerable Master Guangquan led all the monastics in singing the national anthem and saluting the flag with their gaze. The assembly watched as the flag flew high above the thousand-year-old temple. With profound reverence, they offered sincere blessings to the great motherland, praying for national prosperity and for peace and contentment for the people.
