Repentance Service of Emperor Liang Held at Lingyin Temple

From March 28 to April 3, 2016, the seven-day Repentance Service of Emperor Liang was held at Lingyin Temple on the occasion of Qingming Festival. On March 28, the repentance service began at the Medicine Hall and Abbot of Lingyin Temple Ven. Guangquan hosted the service with the incense offering ritual. The repentance service was performed to pray for merciful blessing of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas for social harmony and national prosperity, and wellbeing for all.

[Note: Emperor Liang Wudi was the first emperor of the Liang Dynasty and he had The Repentance Sutra of Emperor Liang compiled for chanting in order to salvage her empress from suffering. Since then, devotees who intend to transfer the merit to their departed ones to release their suffering and calamity often invite members of the Sangha to recite this sutra. ]

The resident Buddhist masters of Lingyin Temple, along with over 700 Buddhist believers in Hangzhou, joyfully participated in the repentance service, which came to a successful end on April 3.
