On August 2, 2016, Buddhist masters from Lingyin Center for Buddhist and Go Culture were invited to participate in the 60th European Go Congress (EGC) held in Saint Petersburg. EGC enjoys great popularity with a long history in the west and attracts Go enthusiasts from all over the world every year. In recent years, there has been an increase of Go enthusiasts from the east.
Lingyin Center for Buddhist and Go Culture was established by the Buddhist Association of Hangzhou in 2009. Since then, the Go game, as an extension of Humanistic Buddhism, has been playing an important role in the cultural exchanges with foreign countries of Hangzhou Buddhist community. It also has far-reaching influence on the construction of a harmonious society and the development of the Buddhist culture and the international exchange for Hangzhou.
The Lingyin Go team was led by the director of Lingyin Center for Buddhist and Go Culture Master Jueliang with hopes of sharing the Chinese Buddhist culture overseas through communications on the Go game with other Go enthusiasts in such events.
