Inaugural Ceremony of National Buddhist Library Consortia Held at Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou

On July 17, 2018, the inaugural ceremony of the National Buddhist Library Consortia, the launching ceremony of Yunlin Classification Scheme for Buddhist Books (Revised Edition), and the opening ceremony of the first workshop on the classification scheme for Buddhist libraries were held at Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou. Over 100 distinguished guests from the national Buddhist library system gathered together to discuss resource complementarity, mutual coordination and shared service among Buddhist libraries.

The Abbot of Lingyin Temple Venerable Master Guangquan, the Chief Librarian of Luminary Buddhist Institute Library Master Ziyan, the Chief Librarian of Zhejiang Library Mr. Zhu Shuqing, and the representative of Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Ethnic and Religious Affairs Mr. Wang Dehao all delivered a speech at the ceremonies. The persons in charge or representatives of the libraries that initiated the establishment of the library consortia had their seals affixed on the official document and had a group photo. Venerable Master Guangquan presented the newly released Yunlin Classification Scheme for Buddhist Books (Revised Edition) to other Buddhist libraries as a gift.

The first workshop on the classification scheme for Buddhist libraries was held from July 17 to 21. Experts from National Library of China were invited to lecture on the basic principles, general rules and the processing of the bibliographic data of Chinese books, as introduced in Chinese Library Classification (5th Edition),and experts from Buddhist libraries were also invited to elaborate on the use of Yunlin Classification Scheme for Buddhist Books (Revised Edition) to the attendees.
