Lingyinsi Temple - 2019 English Training Course for Buddhist Sutra Lecturers Opens at LYT

On the morning of February 25, 2019, the opening ceremony of the 2019 English Training Course for Buddhist Sutra Lecturers was held at Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou. Attendees at the ceremony included the deputy secretary-general of the Buddhist Association of China Master Hongdu, the director of the Teaching Affairs Department of the Buddhist Association of China Master Changshun, the director of the Education Training Department of the Buddhist Association of China Master Yuanci, the deputy director of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Hangzhou Municipal Committee Mr. Shao Gensong, the deputy director of Branch One of the Ethnic and Religious Affairs Committee of Zhejiang Province Mr. Lou Yuewen, the deputy secretary general of the Party Group of Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Ethnic and Religious Affairs Mr. Tang Mingzhuang, the director of Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Ethnic and Religious Affairs Mr. Hu Shengjun, etc. The ceremony was presided over by Master Changshun, and Mr. Lou Yuewen, Mr. Shao Gensong and Master Hongdu all delivered a speech.

The training course would last 13 days, offering courses of “Buddhist English”, “The Promotion of Buddhism Overseas”, “English Speaking”, “Indian Philosophy”, “Buddhist Translation”, “The Indian Culture in Buddhist Texts”, etc. More than 70 Buddhist masters from Hangzhou Buddhist Academy and other Buddhist academies in Beijing, Guangdong, Zhejiang and other provinces attended the training course.

Right after the opening ceremony, the director of the Education Training Department of the Buddhist Association of China Master Yuanci gave the first lecture of the training course on “Buddhist English”.

The event was organized by the Buddhist Association of China, co-organized by the Buddhist Association of Hangzhou, and undertaken by the Chinese Buddhism Sutra Lecture Exchange Base and Lingyin Temple.
