At 22:55 on June 17, 2019, a 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck Changning County of Yibin City in southwest China’s Sichuan Province. The epicenter, with a depth of 16 km, was monitored and aftershocks hit near the same area. As of 16:00 on June 18, thirteen people were killed, another 199 were injured and more than 140 thousand people were affected by the disaster.
The Sangha of Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou were deeply concerned for the people in the stricken area and they sincerely prayed for their wellbeing at the Huayan Dharma Assembly being held at the temple. May the dead be reborn in the Western Pure Land and may the living be released from suffering.
