The 2022 Buddhist Debate held by the Buddhist Association of China, co-organized by the Buddhist Association of Zhejiang and undertaken by the Chinese Buddhism Sutra Lecture Exchange Center, the Buddhist Association of Hangzhou and Hangzhou Buddhist Academy came to a successful close on the morning of November 8. The closing ceremony was held at Hangzhou Buddhist Academy.
The 17 teams from Buddhist temples in the country had intense debates on the theme “the practice of Buddhism with Chinese characteristics”. During the debates, all the debaters showed logical thinking, careful analysis and a powerful knowledge reserve of Buddhism. They were not only quick-witted and eloquent, but also good at debating strategies and skills, sparkling with wisdom in their words. After a rigorous review by the awards committee, the First Gold Lotus Prize was awarded to the debate teams from The Buddhist Academy of China and Hangzhou Buddhist Academy (the Bhikkhuni College). The Second Gold Lotus Prize went to the debate teams from Hangzhou Buddhist Academy and Zhejiang Ciyun Buddhist Academy, and the Third Gold Lotus Prize to debate teams from Buddhist Academy of Zhejiang (the Main Campus), Buddhist Academy of Jiangsu (Ci’en Campus), Buddhist Academy of Jiangsu (the Bhikkhuni College, Ci’en Campus), Buddhist College of Minnan (the Bhikkhuni College).
