Hosted by the Buddhist Association of China and the China Religious Culture Communication Association, the 6th World Buddhist Forum, organized by the Zhejiang Organizing Committee, will take place in mid-October in the city of Ningbo in east China’s Zhejiang Province. The forum will extend invitations to Buddhists, experts, scholars, and delegates from about 70 countries and regions around the world.
The theme of this forum is "Shared Aspirations, Harmonious Coexistence." It will feature an opening ceremony, a closing ceremony, the main forum, seven sub-forums, a new media forum, a television forum, a prayer Dharma assembly, and multiple supporting activities. Discussions will cover various aspects, including the inclusive wisdom, spiritual connotation, transmission of teachings, compilation of scriptures, social responsibility, cultural arts of Buddhism, as well as the essence and connotations of humanistic Buddhism, the Middle Way philosophy, and the wisdom of equality. The forum aims to promote the teachings of benevolence and peace in Buddhism, practice the spirit of wisdom, equality, the Middle Way, harmony, and altruism, and facilitate equal treatment, harmonious coexistence, and mutual learning among different civilizations and faiths. It seeks to contribute the wisdom and strength of Buddhism to promoting world peace, enhancing human well-being, and advancing the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.
The World Buddhist Forum is held once every three years. Since the first forum in April 2006 in Hangzhou and Zhoushan, Zhejiang, five sessions have been successfully held in Wuxi, Hong Kong, Taipei, and Putian, Fujian. It has now become the largest and most influential multilateral platform for international Buddhist-related exchange and dialogue initiated by China.
