From December 31, 2024, to January 6, 2025, Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou continued the tradition of Laba porridge distribution. Each day, six large steam pots were used to prepare porridge continuously for 24 hours, which was then promptly delivered to various locations in Hangzhou through community channels, media, and charitable organizations, extending warmth and blessings to Hangzhou citizens.

This year, Lingyin Temple distributed Laba porridge to the public, with nearly 300 community streets participating in the event and helping to distribute approximately 150,000 portions. A total of 64 media outlets also participated, distributing nearly 60,000 portions of Laba porridge, while the Hangzhou Yunlin Charitable Foundation distributed about 24,000 portions. Charitable organizations and community collaborations, along with news media such as television, radio, and newspapers, worked together. The Hangzhou Yunlin Charitable Foundation partnered with volunteer associations to deliver the warmth of the Laba Festival to street communities, sanitation workers, key construction sites, railways, highways, long-distance bus stations, hospitals, nursing homes, and rehabilitation centers.

“Gathering together to feast, hearing the sound of bells and drums in the morning and evening.” The peace and warmth brought by Laba porridge from Lingyin Temple spread throughout the city, enriching the festive atmosphere of this traditional holiday.
