On the afternoon of January 12th, the Abbot of Ling Yin Temple, Venerable Guang Quan, who is also chancellor of Hangzhou Buddhist Academy, was invited by CGB Bank of Hangzhou speak to a large crowd in the Meditation Hall of Hangzhou Buddhist Academy.

As Venerable Guang Quan often addresses a wide array of audiences, the discussion focused on the social responsibilities and traditional make up of civilization in today's China. The Abbot began with the source of Buddhism beliefs and its roots in India, to its collision with Chinese culture in ancient times and influences to the modern society. The influences on society extended to Buddhist architecture, literature, bibliography, arts, music, sculptures, text translation, and other cultural aspects that shape our world today.
