Ven.Guangquan Hosts the Consecration Ritual of Buddhist Statues at Yanshou Monastery

On November 1, 2014, Chairman of the Buddhist Association of Hangzhou and Abbot of Lingyin Temple, Venerable Master Guangquan at invitation attended and hosted the consecration (kaiguang) ritual of Buddhist statues at Yanshou Monastery in Fuyang, Zhejiang.

The festivity started at about 9:00 am. Vice-chairman of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Director of the United Front Department of Fuyang Municipal Committee Xia Fen, Chairman of the Buddhist Association of Zhejiang Venerable Master Yizang, Chairman of the Buddhist Association of Hangzhou and Abbot of Lingyin Temple Venerable Master Guangquan, Board Chairman of Hangzhou West Lake Yuantong Property Co. Ltd Meng Wennan, and Chairman of the Buddhist Association of Fuyang Zhang Guanyue gave a speech respectively. General Secretary of the Buddhist Association of Fuyang Venerable Master Zongmiao presided at the festivity.

At 10:00 am, the ritual commenced with the bell rings and chants when the Buddhist believers put their palms together and chanted the Buddha’s name to invite about a hundred venerable masters into the Mahavira Hall. The consecration ritual was co-hosted by Venerable Master Yizang, Venerable Master Guangquan, Vice-chairman of the Buddhist Association of Zhejiang, Chairman of the Buddhist Association of Wenzhou and  Abbot of Jiangxin Temple Venerable Master Zhiming, Vice-chairman of the Buddhist Association of Hangzhou and Abbot of Faxi Temple Venerable Master Dingben, and Vice-chairman of the Buddhist Association of Hangzhou and Abbot of Jingshan Wanshou Temple Venerable Master Jiexing.

As was chanted at the ritual, “The face of Buddha looks like the pure full moon as well as a thousand suns radiating bright light; with bright light shining in ten directions, all sentient beings salute in reverence…” In such a solemn atmosphere, the consecration ritual of Buddhist statues at Yanshou Monastery came to a successful conclusion. All venerable masters put their palms together and wished for a prosperous year, both for the people and the country. With solemn auspicious Buddhist music going around, thousands of Buddhist believers were filled with Dharma joy.
