Ven.Guangquan Confers the Ritualistic Staff on Ven.Jieqing,New Abbot of Jingci Temple

On January 7, 2015, a ceremony was held to celebrate Venerable Jieqing’s becoming the new abbot of Jingci Temple. Among those in attendance were officials of provincial and municipal bureaus in charge of religious affairs, venerable Buddhist masters of other temples, representatives of the Japanese Buddhist community, and over than a thousand members of the Sangha. Chairman of the Buddhist Association of Hangzhou and Abbot of Lingyin Temple Venerable Master Guangquan conferred on Venerable Jieqing the staff of office, a symbol of an abbot’s authority, and addressed the audience on behalf of Hangzhou Buddhist community. In Venerable Abbot Guangquan’s speech, he spoke highly of Venerable Jieqing’s achievements and contributions in temple management, the establishment of Buddhist ethics, charitable activities and exchange affairs. Venerable Jieqing is the most ideal and favored person to be the abbot Jingci Temple. Venerable Abbot Guangquan also expressed his hope that under the guidance of Venerable Jieqing the Sangha of Jingci Temple should earnestly love the country and the religion, follow the tradition of acting with compassion and apply the wisdom of Buddhism to every facet of life to make contribution to the economic and social development of Hangzhou.
