Yunlin Academic and Scholarship Awards Ceremony Held at Peking University

 On March 22, 2015, the 2014 Yunlin Academic and Scholarship Awards ceremony was held at Peking University’s School of Foreign Languages. Distinguished guests in attendance included Associate Dean of PKU’s School of Foreign Languages Wu Jiewei, Professor of PKU and Vice-chairperson of the Buddhist Association of China Venerable Zhanru, Monastery Supervisor of Lingyin Temple Venerable Yankong, Secretary-General of Yunlin Charitable Foundation Venerable Zhengqin; from PKU’s Department of Southeast Asian Cultural Studies, the Chair Chen Ming, Vice Chair Saerji and CPC Committee Secretary Wang Xu were in attendance as special guests as well.
 Yunlin Academic and Scholarship Awards were established by Lingyin Temple in 2010 to reward and subsidize young teachers and outstanding students who have made notable contributions, aiming at encouraging teachers and students in colleges and universities to explore the profoundness of traditional Chinese culture, promote Buddhist cultural exchanges, and better preserve the Buddhist culture while supporting its dissemination and development.
 The teachers and students receiving the awards said they were very honored and happy for the encouragement and support from Lingyin Temple, which boasts a history of over a thousand years. They promised that they would work harder with strong academic enthusiasm and positive learning attitude and give back to the society through rigorous academic achievements.
