On the morning of March 26, 2015, the “Revision of Yunlin Buddhism Classification and Buddhist Library Management in China Seminar" was ceremoniously opened in Yunlin Library of Lingyin Temple. More than 60 experts, scholars and Buddhist masters in attendance were from Buddhist and social library institutions, which included the Chinese Buddhist Academy, Hangzhou Buddhist Academy, Sichuan Wenshu Monastery, Beijing Longquan Monastery, Shanghai Yufo Temple, Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Taiwan Luminary Buddhist Institute, Hanazono University of Japan. Abbot of Lingyin Temple Ven. Guangquan attended and addressed the opening ceremony. In his speech, Ven. Guangquan introduced the history and current status of Yunlin Library of Lingyin Temple to the audience and expressed thanks to the Buddhist masters and scholars for their suggestions on preserving Buddhist books and spreading Dharma.
Yunlin Library of Lingyin Temple, formerly the “Lingyin Shucang” (Lingyin Library) set up at by the Qing Dynasty Governor of Zhejiang Ruan Yuan in Lingyin Temple, was restored in 2003 to form a multifunctional composite of more than thirty thousand volumes of Buddhist scriptures. A decade ago, Yunlin Buddhism Classification was compiled and promoted for use in the Buddhist community for easier retrieval and usage. To better adapt to the development of Buddhist culture, Lingyin Temple invited Buddhist masters and scholars to offer suggestions on the revision of the book and Buddhist library management on the 10th anniversary of the book to integrate all resources in contributing to the preservation and utilization of Buddhist scriptures.
After two days of heavy discussions, the seminar came to a constructive and successful conclusion on the afternoon of March 27.
