Lingyin Weiqi Team Participates in 7th Forshang Cup Weiqi Tournament

On October 9, 2015, the three-day 7th Forshang Cup Weiqi Tournament began at Yuan-Dao Guanyin Temple in Taipei, Taiwan. Lingyin Weiqi Team comprising of Buddhist masters of Lingyin Temple participated in this tournament in Taiwan with Master Jueliang as the team leader.

During the first Buddhist cultural festival “Buddhist Land of Southeast China – Hangzhou” in 2010, Lingyin Weiqi Team had a friendly match with the delegation of Yuan-Dao Guanyin Temple and players of the Forshang Cup Weiqi Tournament. Lingyin Weiqi Team again had the opportunity for exchange in Weiqi this time.

At the opening ceremony, Master Jueliang on behalf of Lingyin Temple sent a framed poem of Master Jigong on the game of Weiqi as a gift to Yuan-Dao Guanyin Temple and received the character 福,fu (Chinese pinyin, meaning blessing or happiness) and Weiqi champion cookies given by the Chairman of Committee of the temple Mr. Huang in return. The world champion Zhou Junxun was also present for the opening ceremony and cheered on the players. Attendees at the opening ceremony also included guests and players from Mainland China and South Korea as well as famous Weiqi players Noboru Sugiura, and Hiroko Ishinabe of Japan.

The 7th Forshang Cup Weiqi Tournament was co-hosted by Forshang World Foundation and Yuan-Dao Guanyin Temple. During the three-day tournament, 32 Weiqi teams entered from China, Japan and Korea to participate in five rounds of gamesmanship.
