In the Tang Dynasty, the Venerable One Yanyang once consulted Zen Master Zhaozhou, “I’ve already everything for my practice of Zen. What shall I do next?”
Zen Master Zhaozhou replied, “Just let go.”
The Venerable One Yanyang said, “I’ve let go of everything, then what else should I let go of?”
Zen Master Zhaozhou replied, “If you don’t think you have anything to let go of, then just pick it up.”
Hearing this, The Venerable One Yanyang was suddenly enlightened.
